Ash Soto is an Instagram star and a beauty blogger who turned her vitiligo into an art piece. Soto was diagnosed with this disease when she was 12. In vitiligo patches of skin loses its pigmentation. Being a little girl she started feeling ashamed of herself especially when a little girl asked her if she had bathed in bleach. Then Soto took a decision that she will walk in public with bare sleeves without any hesitation. She turned her skin disease into beautiful artwork. She says “I never realized how beautiful my vitiligo was until I traced it with a black marker, it really helps to bring out the different colours of my skin,” Soto said. She painted a world map on her body. She has drawn different patterns with colored markers. She named her body art “The Markers Chronicles”. Actually, her body is her canvas and she decorates it with keen attention. Instagram helped her a lot. She made an account and post selfies but hid her vitiligo then she revealed her condition. She said “The thought of sharing my whole self on social media was a paralyzingly one. We have all experienced or seen how cruel people can be, especially behind the safety of a keyboard,” Soto said. “It took me a long time to share my true self. I decided to post when I felt like I was strong enough and mentally able to handle the reaction, whichever way I was meant to receive it.” She got an overwhelming response. Swishtoday has collected her photos turned into beautiful art. Watch her self confidence, positivity and a real struggle for the inspiration.
